Whether you’re having friends over, or a family dinner, freshly baked garlic bread (pan con ajo in Spanish) is great option for a quick dinner, as a starter, as tapas or side dish. This quick and easy garlic bread recipe will make all your house smell like a Mediterranean restaurant.

The only dinner this is not appropriate for is probably date night, unless, of course, your date is a gourmet.

If you’re in a hurry, garlic bread can also be grilled or toasted, drizzled with a bit of olive oil, and rubbed with a peeled garlic clove.

  • 2 baguettes or other bread
  • 100ml olive oil
  • 50g butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  2. Blitz all ingredients except the baguettes together.
  3. Cut the baguettes into (diagonal) slices, about 1cm thick.
  4. Coat each slice with the mixture using a kitchen brush or butter knife.
  5. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes.
