Montjuïc

Montjuïc is a hill situated near the center of Barcelona, south of the old town with many attractions.

Some of the top attractions include the Magic FountainMontjuïc Fortress, the Olympic Ring, Fundacio Miro, Poble Espanyol (Spanish village) and the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya-MNAC.

The development of the zone started with the 1929 International Exhibition held in Barcelona. The Palau Nacional, today hosting the MNAC was the centerpiece of the Exhibition and today dominates the hill overlooking the Magic Fountain, a spectacle of light, water and sound worth enjoying.

Nearby are the colossal sports hall Palau Sant Jordi, Calatrava’s telecommunications spear and the botanical garden.

Some of the best panoramic views of downtown Barcelona are from Montjuïc.
