The Vienna State Opera building is one of the most famous landmarks of Vienna, situated at Karlsplatz on the Ring boulevard.

It was built in the first half of the 19th century as the Vienna Court Opera (Wiener Hofoper).

The Wiener Staatsoper is one of the busiest opera houses in the world producing 50 to 60 operas per year and ten ballet productions in approximately 300 performances.

The opera is featured on television in over 90 countries every January 1. when the traditional New Year concert takes place.
