Ciutadella park

Parc de la Ciutadella - the cascade

Ciutadella is the largest park in downtown Barcelona, just outside the Gothic quarter and near the Born market.
Built on the grounds of an 18th century defensive citadel, the park is today one of the favourite green spaces of both Barcelona’s residents and guests.

At the Ciutadella park you can row a boat in a small pond, enjoy the exotic Cascade fountain designed by young Gaudi, and admire the monumental buildings in and around the park: the assembly of Catalonia, The Three Dragons modernista palace (Housing the Natural history museum) and Barcelona’s own Triumphal Gate just outside the northern entrance of the park.

Many off the buildings were built for the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exposition.

Barcelona Zoo is also located in the park.
