Barcelona Airport – El Prat

Barcelona – El Prat International Airport, is the second busiest airport in Spain serving hundreds of flights every day. It is named after a nearby town, and located 12 km southwest of the city center.

The airport has two terminals – T1 (the new one, opened in 2009) and T2 (A, B and C).

Both terminals are well connected to the city by bus, metro and regional trains and transfer companies such as Aerobús (Departs from Plaça de Catalunya and Plaça de Espanya). Shuttle buses to most tourist destinations near Barcelona (Costa Brava to the north and Costa Dorada to the south) operate during the day.

If you need a shuttle, avoid From2travel agency, especially if you travel with small children. We were left hanging at the airport all night shamelessly, and apparently so have many others. Just check their Google reviews.

Getting to Barcelona from the airport

Getting from Barcelona Airport to nearby towns and cities (Costa Brava and Costa Dorada)

Beside the shuttle buses mentioned above, you can get by taxi or car transfer if you prefer comfort (both at around 150 € to the farther Costa Dorada towns – Salou, Cambrils, Pineda de Mar…), or take a bus (eg. BusPlana), or regional trains (Rodalies, RENFE) from the Sants, Passeig de Gracia or França stations (< 10 €).
