Great for breakfast, dinner or as a side dish, the Gužvara (wrinkly pie) is one of the most popular homemade pastries in Serbia and the Balkans.
Ingredients
- 8 eggs
- 1kg phyllo (filo) sheets
- 500g salty cottage or similar crumble cheese
- 500ml greek yogurt
- 200ml vegetable oil
- 500ml spring water
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Handful of sesame seeds
Prep
- Preheat the oven to 200oC
- Prepare a larger baking tray, brush the bottom and sides with oil
- In a large bowl mix the ingredients (except the phyllo sheets) with a spoon or fork
- Wrinkle each phyllo sheet and dip into the mixture and stack in the baking tray side by side until it’s full.
- if there’s mixture left, pour it over.
- For extra sass, sprinkle the sesame seeds over.
- Bake for about 40 minutes.
