The temple of Debod is a gift from Egypt to Spain, brought and restored piece by piece in the Parque del Oeste in central Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>The best time to visit the temple is <strong>before sunset<\/strong>, because of the magical colours of the sky around the temple.<\/p>\n<div  class=\"tip\">Entrance to the temple is free, but there&#8217;s a queue to enter and only 15 people are allowed at a time.<\/div>\n<div  class=\"extended\">In 1960, due to the construction of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aswan_Dam\">Aswan High Dam<\/a> and the consequent threat posed by its reservoir to numerous monuments and archeological sites, UNESCO made an international call to save this rich historical legacy. As a sign of gratitude for the help provided by Spain in saving the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Abu_Simbel_temples\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abu Simbel temples<\/a>, the Egyptian state donated the temple of Debod to Spain in 1968.<\/p>\n<p>The temple was rebuilt in Madrid and opened to the public in 1972. The reassembled gateways have been placed in a different order than when originally erected.
