{"id":765,"date":"2016-12-04T20:52:59","date_gmt":"2016-12-04T20:52:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/resabi.com\/explorer\/barcelona\/?p=765"},"modified":"2017-07-07T21:10:53","modified_gmt":"2017-07-07T21:10:53","slug":"placa-espanya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resabi.com\/explorer\/barcelona\/placa-espanya\/","title":{"rendered":"Pla\u00e7a d&#8217;Espanya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"firstHeading\" class=\"firstHeading\" lang=\"en\">Pla\u00e7a d&#8217;Espanya (aka Pla\u00e7a Espanya, or Plaza de Espa\u00f1a) is one of the most important squares of Barcelona, located at the foot of <a title=\"Montju\u00efc\" href=\"https:\/\/resabi.com\/explorer\/barcelona\/montjuic\/\">Montju\u00efc<\/a>, just below the spectacular <a href=\"https:\/\/resabi.com\/explorer\/barcelona\/national-museum-catalan-art-mnac\/\">Palau Nacional (MNAC)<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/resabi.com\/explorer\/barcelona\/magic-fountain\/\">Magic Fountain<\/a>. This magnificent square was built for the <a href=\"https:\/\/resabi.com\/explorer\/barcelona\/tag\/1929-barcelona-universal-exposition\/\">Barcelona Expo in 1929<\/a>, flanked by two Venetian towers towards and with a beautiful fountain in the middle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"firstHeading\" lang=\"en\">On the other side of Pla\u00e7a d&#8217;Espanya is the former bull fighting arena, nowadays transformed into the <a href=\"https:\/\/resabi.com\/explorer\/barcelona\/arenas-de-barcelona-shopping-centre\/\">Arenas Shopping Centre<\/a>. Just behind it is the <a href=\"https:\/\/resabi.com\/explorer\/barcelona\/parc-de-joan-miro\/\">Park of Joan Mir\u00f3<\/a>. On the opposite side of the Carrer Tarragona street is the iconic <a href=\"https:\/\/resabi.com\/explorer\/barcelona\/accommodation\/catalonia-barcelona-plaza\/\">Hotel Catalonia Barcelona Plaza<\/a>, with stunning views from its rooftop pool.<\/p>\n<p class=\"firstHeading\" lang=\"en\">The square is an important traffic intersection with roads leading to all sides of the city.
