The Gothic Quarter or Barri Gòtic is the medieval district in the heart of Barcelona. It is one of the favourite places of history lovers as it takes you a few hundred years back through time. Impressive Gothic churches, convents and palaces rise above tiny cobbled streets and cosy squares, telling the story of the city that once was. Ruins of Roman Barcino can also be seen around this neighbourhood.
The Cathedral of Santa Eulalia, the Counts palace and the magnificent Santa Maria del Mar church, along with the town hall are just some of the most important attractions of the Gothic Quarter.
Numerous cafes, shops, restaurants and cultural venues can also be found in this area.
